Spa Offers a Newly Expanded Selection of Signature Treatments,
Bajan-Inspired Experiences, and Amenities

(St. James, Barbados) – The Spa at Sandy Lane, one of the Caribbean’s most spectacular and comprehensive facilities measuring more than 47,000-square-feet, is pleased to introduce nine individualized Spa Experiences to their menu, combining massage, wraps, and other spa elements to create specialized half-day and full-day treatments. Additionally, for guests wishing to incorporate the warmth and tranquillity of Barbados into their Spa Experience or any signature treatment, The Spa has expanded their offerings to include treatments inspired by local ingredients, textures, and scents with elements such as Bajan sugar cane, coconut oil, and banana leaves.

Commenting on the new Experiences and Bajan influenced treatments at The Spa at Sandy Lane, Spa Manager Tracey Archer said, “The new Experiences allow guests to combine therapies and treatments to indulge and focus on certain aspects of their overall wellness. Adding Bajan elements further invigorate these exclusive treatments and emphasize a sense of place, reminding guests of the sun, sounds, and smells of Barbados.”

Each Experience incorporates various treatments throughout The Spa to encourage guests’ overall health and wellness. Experiences such as the Purifying Program first takes guests through a Jet Blitz, followed by a refreshing Hydrobath, continuing with a Bajan Herbal Linen Wrap and a Detoxifying Aromatherapy Massage to rid the body of any remaining contaminants. Other Experiences include the Golfer’s Tonic, Nuture Retreat, and the As You Like It Experience, wherein guests create their own spa journey from choosing a combination of any three treatments.

Signature Bajan treatments available at The Spa at Sandy Lane include:

Bajan Sugar Cane Scrub
Signature Sunset and Sunrise oils are carefully blended and drizzled onto your skin using locally produced raw brown sugar. The sugar removes dead skin cells and the warm oil is absorbed into your skin to leave it feeling soft and silky.

Bajan Herbal Linen Wrap
Natural linens are heated in an infusion of Bajan detoxifying herbs. The entire body is cocooned, to stimulate, increase body temperature and encourage the elimination of toxins.

Bajan Head Massage
Energizing and restorative techniques are applied using Signature Bajan Hair Oil to condition hair and scalp. This treatment focuses on energy points leaving you feeling uplifted and relaxed.

Guests who visit The Spa will get to experience the newly renovated rooms, each of which feature new top-of-the-line Oakworks beds, bamboo flooring, and decorations with soft colors of yellow, pink, and blue. The rooms include 11 treatment rooms and 3 specialty rooms, including the Jet Blitz, Hydrobath, and Chakra room where Thai and Shiatsu are performed. The facility also installed a new panoramic sauna, experience showers and a steam room that doubles as one of the only Rhassoul Baths in the Caribbean. Located adjacent to The Spa’s hydrotherapy pool, the Rhassoul Bath offers a revitalizing spa experience where ambient sound, light, aromatherapy and water temperature combine to moisturize and detoxify the body. The Rhassoul Bath is the perfect compliment to any spa experience and can be enjoyed both before and after treatments.

The Spa at Sandy Lane also offers a hydro pool with jet beds, a panoramic sauna, a cold room, three types of cold experience showers, two warm experience showers and a steam room/Rhassoul. In keeping with the health and wellness theme, Sandy Lane also offers a comprehensive fitness program. The 2,500-square-foot gymnasium includes an exercise studio, a personal training room, and a fitness room. Group exercise classes are available including aqua aerobics, Pilates, body sculpting, spinning, yoga and Tai Chi. Personalized fitness assessments and private sessions are available in yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi.

Sandy Lane originally opened in 1961 and was completely rebuilt and expanded, preserving its classic elegance and grace while modernizing the resort to welcome a new generation of travelers in 2001. The 112-room resort is set in an ancient mahogany grove overlooking a gorgeous crescent of beach on Barbados’ western coast, and was rebuilt in the same neo-Palladian style, complete with its white coral stone rotunda.
